Topic: Cannot define edit areas with using one page site on subdomain

Hi Team,

The software is great, and I am definitely going to upgrade to the paid version.

The issue I've come across is: when trying to define an edit area on a subdomain site nothing happens.

I found a workaround for this on my other subdomains: Checking the activate links box and navigating on the site, initiates the system to ask me to select the root folder and where the index.html is located..After doing that I can perfectly define all areas to be editable.

However for this site I'm just making a preview of index.html for the client and wouldnt like to include any other pages.
Of course I could add the other pages to server, start navigating, select root and then delete not needed pages. But I am just wondering if there is a quicker way to do that?
Perhaps somehow I can select root folder without waiting the system to ask me for that?

Thanks and regards:
Daniel

Re: Cannot define edit areas with using one page site on subdomain

Hi Daniel, SimpleCMS will try to guess the root folder for you when you add a site, if it can't find the root folder it will ask you to specify it when you add/update the site. If a folder is found the system doesn't prompt for this information.

It sounds like the system has detected a different root folder for this particular site. On your other sites I imagine the system has detected the wrong folder but when you navigate to other pages the system can't find those pages and asks you to confirm the root folder.

This feature is supposed to make adding sites quicker and easier as most web servers are setup the same, e.g. /public_html or /httpdocs, etc but when subdomains are used the system will generally detect the non-subdomain folder first.

You can manually choose the root folder by going to the following URL when logged in to SimpleCMS:
http://cms.simplecms.com/#/sites/select_root/

Please let us know if you have any problems and we'll take a look at your account for you.
