I had a similar issue whilst setting up a website for an indoor bowls club - I'm afraid you can't, in any of the text editors out there that I know of

Hi Mitch - there is no way for users to create directories at the moment

Glad to see you sorted this out before we could even get back to you - more information about this can be found in another area of the forum: http://smplc.ms/charencoding

Sorry that you never got a reply, I've just seen your original email.

I've just managed to edit the page, I added a colon after the "Member Login" and everything seems to have worked fine.

If you mean that you can't edit past that page then I will need the username and password to check myself - of course, this would be better to email through.

Thanks

I notice you have a number of sites in your account, Edwin - could you email us with this particular issue and we will look into it from there

Hi Ryan - if it's really important stuff that you've lost, send us an email and we'll see what we can do - thanks

I've just visited the site in the system and noticed that the text area includes images but you haven't enabled any image uploading icons. You can do this by visiting My Account > Update rich text editor options

As well as running SimpleCMS we also do work for other clients; whilst this is not an excuse for being a little slow sometimes, it is the reason.

We will get something up-and-running soon.

Yes, through the Source tab - good luck! :)

This isn't a problem with the system, you need to reference your images properly on your test site like you have on the main site.

For example, this is a broken image: http://www.indien-wildlife.de/SDTEST/images/logo.gif
whereas this is not: http://www.indien-wildlife.de/images/logo.gif

SimpleCMS is good, but it's not magic ;)

As SimpleCMS edits content directly on the server, you will need to download any changes you have made before making any further changes in any software like Webplus X5, Dreamweaver, etc.

I know it seems like a long time ago, May, but it's quite a short time when it comes to building something bespoke like this - we are using an external developer for this aspect of the project and it's moving slowly but surely. You will know when we launch it :)

Thanks, I've created a list of known hosts which don't work with SimpleCMS as per your suggestion. There are only 2 on there, but it's as start :)

http://smplc.ms/badhosts

Over the past few years we've noticed that some hosting companies just don't like working with SimpleCMS (or any other 'light' CMS for that matter - we've tested the popular ones) ... here is a list, which is by no means comprehensive, but it's a start and will be added to when more are found:

• 000webhost.com
• Bluehost.com

If you find any more, please let us know - of course, it may be that they need to add our IP addresses to their allowed list, so please try that first:

208.109.198.3
208.109.198.189

How is it working out for you towards the end of your 90 day trial Yeong, anything you would like to see that we don't offer?

Sounds like it may be a Facebook thing to me! "Gavin doesn't Like this" :)

We looked into Aloha and it's not quite what we want - it's close but we're working on getting something built in-house as we speak

Could your other client host with Netsol? At least we know that would solve the problem :)

Duplicating content is a big issue for Google, but certainly not in the case of index.php/.html etc.

I have personally been working in the SEO field for almost a decade now (probably how you found us in the first place) and this is not something I have ever read about.

Either way, the system works by finding an index page and if that page has a 301 redirect on it, it goes without saying, that this is never going to work.

Not very impressed so far, John.

To say "like many in this forum" is a little overstatement Kelly. From memory I know this has happened to you and someone else. We could delete posts like these but we choose not to as we're always up-front and honest with our users.

As you have emailed us too, and there will be private information flying around, we will get back to you via email when we have located the problem.

We do have certain issues with particular hosts and sometimes there's no rational reason. Because of the nature of being able to plug in SimpleCMS to most sites, it's difficult to cater for everything for example how a site is built structurally, in which language, which browser the client is using and as you've found out, even the web host. This is why we have to approach each thing on its own merit.

We actually host SimpleCMS on Godaddy dedicated servers, so we know for sure the system works fine with them.

There is one way you could do this: use a site dumper and take the whole completed site down as a flat site, then attach SimpleCMS to it - I have had to do that with a client's site once and it worked fine.

Of course, if you do that you would lose all WP functionality and it's not something I would recommend but it's a solution if you really want to use an easier CMS.

There shouldn't be a problem with the fact that he's using a Mac - do you know what browser he's using?
