We have discussed this and have decided against implementing it; to do so would make the system over-complicated for those users who have a more basic understanding. With our product being SimpleCMS, we have to think about this constantly.

In the next 6 months, however, we are going to launch a download version of the system which may well include this feature.

It's on the to-do list but then we have quite a few things on that list - we'll try to get this feature added as soon as we can but until then, could you let them log in under your admin account?

Simon9 - I really hope you don't prefer the old system. It would seriously make me worry about what we've been doing for the past year! ;)

We're fine-tuning the new system first before we get it translated into German and other languages. Please bear with us - it won't be too long now.

Your clients will never be able to define new edit areas; only admins are able to do this. This is the case whether you choose 'click to define' or whether you assign edit areas using HTML.

Very specific Buster :)

The new version launched Jan 1 2011 but the original system has been running for a couple of years now... we'll let you keep guessing and reveal next week some time.

We're in the process of dealing with this as it's a known issue. As the system cannot edit Flash content anyway, there's no real point in displaying it... which, incidentally, is the fix ;)

As you are using a CNAME you will need to buy an SSL certificate for the sub-domain you're using. To be honest though, the secure connection is really only recommended for admins and when adding FTP details. For the day-to-day administering of the site it's not really necessary as connections are done from our server to yours and not from the user to our server.

As you know, all divs should have IDs anyway - so all we're doing is putting in correct code to compensate. Regarding it looking worse after more and more edits, this isn't going to be the case, as the IDs are only added once, ever. If you would prefer to have 100% control over your code (which is totally understandable) then you could always manually add IDs to all your divs.

I'm sorry to sound blunt but you can't "appreciate the issues" we've had in the last week. We both lost our homes, were without electricity or water and had to witness devastation all around us. Not to mention the sudden lack of an office to work from...

We will get around to this after we've waded through the thousands of emails that have subsequently piled up.

We could easily simplify this by ensuring that all emails coming from a Professional account show the brand, no matter who they are addressed to... would you prefer this?

The data is there so it wouldn't be a big deal to add this as a feature. It's just how to do it whilst still retaining simplicity. It's something we will look at soon. Thanks for the suggestion!

We were working on this when our office was taken out by an earthquake. Things have had to be put back quite significantly as a result, as you can imagine. We still don't have an office (or a house!) but we are armed with laptops and it's a feature we will add as soon as we can.

We'll look into this straight away, Cliff. Something's definitely not right there.

We will look at getting this added by the end of this week

This is a very good point and something we never actually considered until now - we will add an input box to the image editor sometime soon.

Thanks :)

Hi Cliff

I've taken a look at the page you're referring to and it seems that the images are not actually images but empty spans with background images inside. That's your problem right there :)

If you replace these with actual on-page images it will work fine.

Thanks for your kind words by the way - it means a lot to us!

If you are visiting any page other than http://seo4webs.updating.net/ then it cannot be branded with your logo - if however you are referring to this page, could you please send a screen grab of what you're experiencing and in which browser/operating system and we'll take a look

We were on with this and something else came up to stop it happening - we shouldn't have said it would be that day, my apologies.

It's more complex than we imagined.

It's being worked on as part of the to-do list now and shouldn't be too long at all.

We have taken a different approach to this than our competition... we found that most simple sites using the system had very few pages and usually wanted the default to be that they were all editable minus a select few. Of course, if there are no editable areas on a page, then the client will not be able to edit the page anyway.

For your situation, the best thing would be to create a separate XML sitemap called cms-sitemap.xml or similar and link to that instead. This separate sitemap would only contain the few pages you want your client to be able to see in the system.

Edit: new feature - you can now click a button on this page to restrict or un-restrict all pages at once:

Restrict all pages

A photo-gallery which will primarily be used to manage Lightbox images is something which we will be adding in the near future.

We'll post here when we do, as well as Tweeting it.

Oh, ayes with exclamation marks! We'll get it on the to-do list.

Based on your feedback, we've changed this now and it makes much more sense - if you experience any more problems, gents, just let us know.

It just needed the http:// which I have added for you - we should probably make that a little clearer in the system; we'll look at the simplicity (or not) of that page soon as it's caused a few people problems. Not very SimpleCMS :)

You need to click on 'Advanced' on the branding page and enter your CNAME into the box there. CNAMEs should not point to your sub-domain but to updating.net
