Hi Bryan, each case above is different - this isn't the same problem for everyone. There are many things that may affect whether your site is editable in SimpleCMS so it requires a bit of investigation on our part if you are having problems.

I have checked your FTP details and they are working but I'm not sure that they are linked to the site you have added to your account. I downloaded /httpdocs/index.html and added a comment tag <!-- test --> to the top of the file. When I refreshed your site's URL and viewed the HTML source the comment tag wasn't there.

I have also uploaded a new page "testing.html" and tried to view that on your site but it was displaying a 404.

Could you double check / update your FTP settings.

Hi Robb, adding :PORT to the FTP server should work. Example:

ftp.your-domain.com:22

If you email us the port you are trying to connect to we can take a look at this for you.

Hi Eric, thanks for your thoughts on this. Interesting idea. Currently we have a copy of the updated page in our database so we need to add a button that allows you to view a list of updates. We'll try and get this implemented during December.

I do like your idea of a rollback folder, that would allow you to track page changes too. I'll talk to the team about it.

Hi Eric, thanks for the suggestion/brief. That's a helpful description of how you would expect this feature to work. We haven't got any immediate plans to offer this but I see the problem you face. I'll talk to the team and we'll see if we can get this implemented within the next couple of months.

Ah, we'll look into the subscription and ensure the emails are being sent.

Hi Spirelli,

You have an admin account so you have access to all sites/users/features within your account. You then setup "user" accounts which will be for your clients so they can edit their website. The users can only edit the websites that you assign them to, so they won't see other sites that are in your account. If you create a user and log in as them you'll see what I mean.

By default your clients edit their website via cms.simplecms.com or updating.net. If you are a professional user you may set a custom name which means you can give your clients the custom URL instead of our default ones. For example you could have spirelli.updating.net or you could purchase a new domain and setup a CNAME, e.g. spirellicontentmanagement.com

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Hi Spirelli, SimpleCMS does support those tags. I think you can repeat an <li> but the best thing would be to setup a test page see what you can do.

Hi Jamie, I've replied to your email about this. It looks like the files on your FTP server haven't got any read/write permissions set on them.

Hi Edwin, we have added this feature. After you upload an image through the WYSIWYG editor it brings you to the "Image Info" tab, in this tab you can see the width/height of the image. This is set to the actual width/height of the image.

Previously, if you changed the width/height it would just set a style on the image telling it to display at that size but the source file will remain unchanged.

Now when you upload an image and change the width/height the image is resized and compressed to match the width/height specified.

Could you test this and let us know if it works as you expect and solves your problem.

Hi Martin, when I look at your sitemap.xml the domain listed is different, it is riley-butchers.co.uk. The site in your account is rileys-butchers.co.uk

Hi Simon, we'll take a look. May I ask which browser and version you are using?

The WYSIWYG image editor doesn't perform any compression. When the changes are saved the image is uploaded to their FTP server. It could look at the width/height that has been specified in the WYSIWYG editor and resize/compress the image accordingly. This way their web pages aren't loading massive images but displaying them at smaller sizes. Let us know if you agree with this idea and we'll add it to the development list.

Hi Edwin, are your clients uploading large images through the Image icon on the WYSIWYG toolbar?

Hi Mike, you have to download the files from the FTP server to your computer then you can edit them in Rapidweaver.

Hi Edwin, we don't email your clients. After you add a user in SimpleCMS it gives you a template email for you to send to your client. It also mentions that we will never email them. The only time the system will email your client is if they submit their email address into the "Forgotten password" form.

Hi Edwin, the border is a part of the design for the login screen. It is not possible for you to remove it.

Hi Jack, did you get this resolved? If not, could you email the details you are adding into the "Add site" form?

Hi Sam, when does this happen to you? Could you let us know the URL of the page you are trying to access when you receive this error? Feel free to email the information to us.

This normally happens when the site URL and FTP details aren't setup correctly or if there is an issue connecting to your FTP server.

Hi Jack, you can customise which toolbar icons appear by updating your settings here:
Account > My account > Update rich text editor options

To update the toolbar icons for your clients go here:
Users > Permissions > Rich text options

The system may restrict some of the toolbar icons depending on what has been defined as editable. For example, if you have made a SPAN (inline element) editable then the system will disable any toolbars that will generate block elements. It does this to prevent generating invalid HTML. If you encounter this then you may wish to consider putting a DIV around the editable area and making the DIV editable and then your toolbar won't be restricted by the system.

If you have any further questions or problems, please let us know and provide a link to the page in question.

Hi Jerry, which page / area are you referring to? Feel free to email the information to us. I imagine the IMG icon has been removed due to the type of element that has been made editable. When I see the page I can give you a more accurate response.

Hi Harry, are you able to email us the FTP log for the site?

Hi armando, the new version will be around New Year.

You can upload images from your PC to the system - when you click on the image icon a dialog box appears and you will see an "Upload" tab on the dialog box, from there you may select local files to upload.

The new version will also address the issues around links to existing pages. Currently you have to enter in the URL, it would make more sense to have that option along with being able to select a page from the sitemap.

Please let us know if you have any other suggestions or feedback.
