Hi Thomas, could you send us screenshots and links to pages that this is happening on. Also which browser / version are you using? Feel free to email the details to us.

When I logged in to your account and clicked the image edit button and it has opened the image up for cropping or I can upload a new image, which is what it should do.

Hi Cliff, I'm not sure why the problem hasn't replicated on the other site. Is it hosted on a different server? That might output it differently. It's working correctly though, right?

Hi Luke, this will happen if the user exists in the old system but not in the new system. When you log in it will check the new system first for the specified email address and password. If no account is found it will check the old system. So it appears to me that the details being used are old ones.

Could you email us the email address and password of the user in question so we can investigate further please.

Hi Cliff, that's happening because SimpleCMS uses UTF-8 encoding and your pages are ISO-8859-1

Richy's suggestions will resolve this. Thanks for the help Richy.

Alternatively you can give your pages UTF-8 encoding. See this topic for more information

Hi Jane and David, I'm not a Geordie but I live in Newcastle :)

I've just checked that website's files on the FTP server and I can see the HTML files haven't got any permissions, they are currently set to 000. I have tried to change the file permissions using my FTP client, FileZilla, but they won't change. I assume another FTP user uploaded these files.

Changing the files to have read/write permissions will resolve the problem.

Hi Richy, I've corrected the problem so you can now edit the Meta Description on that site.

Here's a quick example:

<div class="edit-repeat">
    <h2>News article 1</h2>
    <p>Short introduction to this news article... <a href="/news-article-1.html">Read more</a></p>
</div>

In SimpleCMS this area will be repeatable so you could create your next news story.

Hi Mark, I've checked your account and everything is setup correctly and working.

You only need to add our IPs to your allowed list if your FTP server is restricting access by IP.

Hi Mike, SimpleCMS will crawl your site to generate a sitemap of links from your homepage. If you haven't linked to a page then it won't appear in the sitemap.

You can add an XML Sitemap to your sites which the system will use instead. This means you can control exactly what pages appear in the sitemap. You can find more information on this here:
http://smplc.ms/xmlsitemap

Hi, can you email us some of the photos you've tried uploading. I'm wondering if the file size and/or resolution are quite large which might cause a problem. Once we have the images we can test them.

Hi Mike, Apple's iPad / iPhone doesn't support rich text editing so unfortunately there isn't anything we can do until they support rich text editing or offer an alternative solution.

Hi Liam, at the moment there isn't a facility to update your card details. If you've cancelled your credit card or received a new one your next payment should fail at which point you'll get an email instructing you to re-subscribe.

We are currently implementing a new payment system which will allow you to manage your details.

If you would like I can manually cancel your subscription and then you can re-subscribe. Your account won't be affected by this.

Hi David, I had similar thoughts when I first read the title of this topic. I've added .pub to the allowed file list.

Hi Tobias, we are still planning this one.

This isn't necessarily a problem with SimpleCMS. Do you have secure FTP usernames and passwords? Have you changed them since the hack?

Is your password for SimpleCMS secure? Have you changed your SimpleCMS password since the hack?

Do you have any FTP details stored in your emails or even your SimpleCMS log-in information? If so you should change your password incase your emails were hacked.

We have updated the system further. The system will still add IDs to all elements while viewing the "Define edit areas" tab so that you can define editable areas but when you switch to the "Edit content" tab the system will remove all unused IDs that the system has added (it won't remove your IDs).

This makes the code cleaner and easier to read now.

Hi Natalie, please email the details that you're entering into the system so that we may check it.

Hi Richy, I'm not sure what the IE error is. I see you're using a different version of Lightbox to the example. I noticed that when I click on an image lightbox starts to open and then the image loads in the page. Very strange. Also when I click in an empty area on the page the screen fades out like Lightbox is loading. I think there might be something wrong with your copy of Lightbox.

Zero2sixtee - I'm please you like it. SimpleCMS aims to offer more complex features but in a simple way that's easy for anyone to use.

Hi Vicky, you selected the wrong directory index. You had chosen:
/mycbig/member_portfolio_pages/index.html

When it should be:
/mycbig/index.html

I've updated this for you so you can now define and edit content.

I've removed your other topic about rollovers. Please give us a URL to the page and an example of what you mean.

Hi Steve, are you able to email the details to us? So we can try adding the site and run some tests to see what the problem is.

SimpleCMS allows you to add an unlimited number of users to your account.

Each user can also be assigned their own permissions which include:

Restricting which sites in your account they may edit
Restricting which pages on a site they may edit
Allowing them to add new pages
Allowing them to edit the meta information (SEO)
Customising the WYSIWYG editor toolbar (e.g. Bold, Italic, Underline, Upload image, Create link, Font size, etc)

You can also receive email alerts when your users make changes to a web page.

Hi Steve, there should be an option in your Hostgator account to allow our IPs. If not you may need to contact Hostgator and ask them.

Actually, I've just made the changes and put them live for you. How's that for some quick work!

You'll now see an input box when editing gallery images. This adds a title attribute to the link which is automagically picked up by lightbox.

Let us know what you think.

That's a good idea. We'll get this implemented within the next week.
